Santander UK is offering four-year railcard and 15% cashback – do you qualify?

Following the end of lockdown, the bank will be hoping young people will be attracted to cheap travel prices and interest-free overdrafts.

In a statement announcing the 1|2|3 Student Current Account, the bank stated: “While end of school exams and assessments have looked a little different this year, many young people are now looking forward to beginning the next phase of their learning at University or in apprenticeships.

“To help them on their way, Santander is offering its 1|2|3 Student Current Account specifically tailored to their needs.”

The account is available to all students, as well as working apprentices from levels four to seven.

According to railcard.co.uk, the national 16-25 Railcard, which is primarily used by students, saves on average £189 per year.

Furthermore, the card also provides savers with discounts for a variety of activities and days out, including theatre tickets and restaurants.

Students can receive 15 percent cashback on certain Retailer Offers from a variety of the UK’s major retailers.

These retailers include Morrisons, the Co-Operative, Costa, Just Eat and Sky.

Students can easily access their Santander account, withdrawing up to £300 daily without charge.

On student account balances up to £2,000, Santander has an in-credit interest of one percent.

Account holders will also be able to access exclusive 1I2I3 World benefits, including preferential deals on other financial products.

Hetal Parmar, Head of Banking, Santander said: “As many young people take their first step towards financial independence, we’re proud to once again be a trusted partner on their journey and help make their money go further with our 1I2I3 Student Current Account – Britain’s most popular student account.”

According to research carried out by retail analyst CACI, the bank kept its place as the largest provider of new student accounts in 19.

In the UK, Santander made up 32 percent of new student account openings.

The bank’s new student account is indicative of its ongoing investment and support of higher education across the country.

Since 2017, Santander Universities has invested more than £90million as part of its support of students in the UK.

Through access to paid internships and overseas travel, Santander Universities is the bank’s main initiative to improve the employability, education and entrepreneurship of students.

Currently, the initiative has 85 direct UK University partnerships and more than 1,100 globally.
