Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is set to make many ‘80s babies happy by announcing the comeback of fluffy puppet ALF.
The actor has credited his “irrational love” for ALF for its return to his Maximum Effort Channel.
In a statement announcing the show’s return to television, he said: “At Maximum Effort, we love taking risks and blurring the lines between shows and sponsorship because we believe both can be equally entertaining.
“Besides my irrational love of ALF growing up, one of the reasons we licensed this show was precisely because Paul, Shout! Studios, and our intrepid brand partners wanted to plot with us to bring ALF back to life.”
The series, which ran from 1986 to 1990, will start airing on the channel from Saturday, July 29.
The announcement comes shortly after Reynolds was forced to halt production on Deadpool 3 just weeks after starting filming.
The Canadian actor had been seen in the iconic outfit and mask while shooting near Pinewood Studios in the UK just days before the SAG-AFTRA strike kicked in, forcing the team to down tools.
It is not known how long the strike will be taking place for, or when the cast and crew will be able to resume filming.
When he does return, Reynolds will not be alone, with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine also confirmed to appear in the upcoming movie.
First look pictures have shown the Merc With The Mouth and the X-Men leader getting into a fight on the beach in scenes shot before the strike came into effect.
It appears the meta and fourth-wall-breaking film is poking fun at the more grisly elements of Wolverine’s backstory – and is instead leaning more into the comic books.
To the delight of fans, this included a comic-book accurate costume for Jackman, with the star donning blue and yellow leather for his head-to-head with Deadpool.
Jackman and Reynolds, who have a playful online ‘spat’, announced they were joining forces with a video confirming Jackman’s appearance in the film.
As the pair were seen playing house, the song in the background took a spin on the Whitney Houston classic, declaring ‘I Will Always Love Hugh’.
