Royal commentator spots detail change in Camilla’s title

An eagled-eyed royal fan has gone viral after pointing out a subtle detail about the Queen Consort’s title in the official Coronation portrait posted by the Palace.

Matta-of-Fact, who shares her insight on royal affairs with her army of 1.2 million followers, drew attention to the Twitter post after noticing the Palace had referred to Camilla as Queen.

The official portrait, published just days ago, was captioned: “An official portrait of Her Majesty the Queen following her Coronation of 6th May.”

Commenting on the update, the TikToker said: “I feel like I am allowed one ‘I told you so’ moment and I am taking it.

“The Royal Family released the official Coronation portrait of Camilla, and with it, we got our first use of ‘Her Majesty The Queen,’ not Her Majesty The Queen Consort’ for Queen Camilla.

“I always said they would make the switch over to Queen Camilla after the official crowning was done,” added the content creator.

She went on to explain that the key difference between Queen Consort and Queen Regnant is that the first designates a member has become Queen by marrying the King, as opposed to a Queen who is reigning on her own.

“Since the UK only ever has one person who is known as ‘The Queen’ at one time, and that person is either the person married to the King or the person ruling as Queen, it’s fine to call whoever that is as Queen,” added the commentator.

“[…] Their whole system is built on these roles being defined and are not up for debate. So that’s why I won’t let this go.

Moving on to the Queen’s outfit in the picture, matta_of_fact noted that Queen Camilla’s custom garment had been tailor-made by her go-to designer Bruce Oldfield.

The couture piece featured gold embroidery on ivory silk and flower motifs representing the four different realms in the United Kingdom.

Camilla had also requested that an image of her two rescue dogs be embroidered into the dress, a detail that many royal fans have said they adore.

One viewer wrote: “Not a huge fan of Camilla but dang the rescue dogs embroidered on the dress? Absolutely love it.”
