Rolling Stones legend Sir Mick Jagger is engaged to long-term girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, according to friends of the couple.
The news comes after Melanie, 36, was seen wearing a ring on her engagement finger.
At the time she laughed off the speculation by saying it was a “promise ring” from Mick, 79.
But friends of the couple have revealed the pair did get engaged during a trip to New York last month.
A source has told The Mirror “Melanie was at the American Ballet Theatre and she was telling her friends she was engaged to Mick. She was very clear her ring is an engagement ring and she is now his fiancée. Her family also very much understand them to be engaged and are thrilled.”
The source went on to say: “There are no plans for a wedding, but it means a lot to Melanie to be engaged – that is what she has been saying. All her friends are happy for her.”
Melanie was first spotted wearing the ring in November but told People: “I have to giggle because did Mick give me the ring? Yes.
“Is it for that finger? Yes. But are we like, h***y teenagers where we’re giving each other…
“In my mind, it’s a promise ring. We’ll be immature and call it a promise ring.”
The couple met at a concert in Tokyo in 2014 and have a six-year-old son named “Devi” Octavian Basil Jagger.
Mick also has seven other children by five different women including jewellery designer and model Jade Jagger who he had with former wife Bianca.
He was also previously in a relationship with Jerry Hall for 22 after their unofficial marriage ceremony in Bali in 1990 was declared void.
In 1999 it was revealed that he had a love child after an affair with Brazilian model and TV host Luciana Gimenez.
The Rolling Stones are reportedly set to release a new album next year which will be their first in almost two decades.
