Rohit Sharma is going through ‘mental block’: Virender Sehwag’s honest take

Rohit Sharma is suffering from poor form in this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Recently, the Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper created an unwanted batting record of having the most ducks in the history of IPL, with 16 ducks to his name. Veteran opening batsman Virender Sehwag said he doesn’t see any technical problems with his batting and Rohit Sharma is dealing with what he called a “mental block”.

“Rohit Sharma is not battling with the bowlers but with himself. There is a mental block,” Virender Sehwag said on Star Sports.

Virender Sehwag added that the MI skipper is going through some sort of confusion and the day he solves that, he will make up all previous poor performances. “There’s no problem with his batting technique. Some confusion is going on in his mind. But the day he gets going, we will make up for all the previous matches,” the explosive opening batsman said.

Mumbai Indians are yet to display their magic during this season of IPL and the team is still at the seventh spot on the points table with 10 points. After the dismal season in 2022, fans were expecting to see the old Mumbai Indians back, but so far in this season also the performance of the team has been below average.

On Tuesday, Mumbai Indians will be going against Royal Challengers Bangalore at their home ground, the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, but before the match the team received another shocker as pacer Jofra Archer was ruled out of the tournament and Chris Jordan is slated to replace the bowler.

“Chris Jordan will join the MI squad for the rest of the season. Chris replaces Jofra Archer, whose recovery and fitness continue to be monitored by ECB. Jofra will return home to focus on his rehabilitation,” MI wrote in a post on Twitter.
