Rock star Rod Stewart, 78, has wowed fans by inking up his arm with a brand new tattoo.

His wife Penny Lancaster, 52, shared her reaction following the big surprise for fans on Easter Monday.

The Maggie May singer took to Instagram in the early hours of this morning to reveal his tattoo in view of his 1.2 million followers.

He could be seen smiling in the picture whilst getting his upper arm inked up with the green logo.

Rod wanted to pay tribute to his beloved football club, Celtic, with the colourful design.

New Zealand singer Jon Stevens wrote: “Thanks so much for having us on the tour Sir Rod safe travels mate Go Celtic.” (sic)

Rod’s fans also weighed in, with Tana writing: “Imagine the pressure on this tattoo artist just knowing your inking up one of the best musicians to walk this earth?

Jo penned: “Awesome, love how passionate you are and that beautiful neck chain. Thank you so much for the fabulous show you put on in Napier and safe travels back home.”

While Ashley teased: “Can you not just get a wee line from one of your best songs?”

“Makes it easier to love your songs,” she added with laughing emojis and the hashtag #rangersfc.

Rod is a renowned Celtics fan and has passed on his loyalty to the team to his sons Alastair, 17, and Aiden, 12.

As young boys, the pair can be seen wearing the football team’s signature green colours in past and present snaps with their dad, with their mum Penny joking: “Celtic through and through.”
