Richard Madeley so dehydrated he was ‘incoherent’ before I’m a Celebrity exit

Presenter Richard Madeley has opened up about the illness he endured during his time in Gwrych Castle and that led to his exit from I’m a Celebrity.

The star made an appearance on Good Morning Britain this morning (November 29) to explain the exact details of what happened to him, requiring instant medical attention.

Richard told his co-stars Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid that it immediately sparked concern with the show’s crew, though he said his symptoms were “harmless”, reports the Mirror.

Speaking on the subject in greater detail, he admitted that his behaviour in the early hours of the morning was “incoherent”.

Though Richard claimed to be fine, he was taken to hospital and now believes his condition resulted from a mixture of him being awake for 20 hours the day prior to him feeling unwell, as well as dehydration.

Richard Madeley spoke about his I’m a Celebrity exit on GMB this morning (November 29)

He said: “I think what happened to me was, I think I got dehydrated, that’s all it was. But dehydration is actually quite disturbing. It’s not a pleasant thing.

“I think I had been up for 20 hours the day before, and the day before that having very long days. We were sleeping quite late.

“I don’t think I got to bed until four or four-thirty in the morning and I knew I was feeling thirsty. I’m quite bad at remembering to drink actually, drink water.

“As I snuggled into my sleeping bag, it was freezing, I thought ‘I haven’t had a big drink for a while, I’ll do it when I wake up’.”

He went on: “The next thing I knew I was sitting there babbling. I don’t know. I was talking nonsense. I didn’t know where I was, what was going on and I could hardly string a sentence together,” agreeing he was “incoherent”.

Sadly Richard was not able to return even though he was given the all-clear as he would have broken the show’s strict Covid bubble.
