Ricci Rivero on girlfriend Andrea Brillantes’ ‘prom-posal’

Amid the Blackpink (BP) frenzy at the Philippine Arena, fans were tickled pink by Andrea Brillantes’ “prom-posal” to her boyfriend Ricci Rivero while they were watching the concert of the K-pop superstars.

The BP girls read Blythe’s (Andrea’s nickname) placard asking Ricci to be her date for the Star Magic prom. As the K-pop group’s name represents women who are fierce (black) yet sweet (pink), Blythe as a diehard Blink (how BP’s fans are called) lived up to what BP stands for by bravely making the first move in the mushiest way ever.

“I was stunned,” Ricci said. “Blythe’s placard was in Korean, so I had no idea what was written on it until I saw the translation on the flip side.”

The star cager is happy that his girlfriend’s efforts paid off. “To those bashing Blythe for what she did at BP’s concert, let’s face it, lahat tayo gustong magpapansin sa idols natin,” Ricci pointed out. “We were lucky that BP noticed the placard and made special mention of us. We have nothing against our bashers.”

Ricci and Blythe are too giddy to be grouchy.

The risks of gambling

As the cliché goes, if you are unlucky in love, then you’re lucky in gambling. Check out if that’s true for the characters in “Balik Taya,” now streaming on Vivamax (VM). A spinoff of the 2021 erotic movie “Taya,” directed by Roman Perez Jr, it is top billed by Angeli Khang, Jela Cuenca, Azi Acosta and Kiko Estrada.

In the movie that was partly shot in Thailand as it delves into the life of a muay thai boxer (Kiko), Angeli portrays a betting girl (Kate) in an online gambling site run by Nina (Jela). As their lives get intertwined, will they break the rules of the game called love?

Here are quotes from Angeli (A), Kiko (K), Azi (AZ) and Roman (R):

A: Since “Taya” is one of the highest-rated movies on VM, doing our movie was quite a pressure. Though it isn’t exactly a sequel, it has the same feel.

K: Our guerrilla-type shooting in Thailand was an exciting adventure. Tinginan at senyasan lang kami ni Azi at Direk, game na. Our movie is “Taya” on steroids.

R: There are things in life that we think we are familiar with. ‘Yun pala, it’s all an illusion. That’s the vibe of our film.

A: It gives me satisfaction when they call me the “Queen of VM” because that means I did my job well. But there’s always room for others. Ayokong mag reyna-reynahan.

K: Back in the day, my dad’s (Gary Estrada) sex scenes were wilder than mine. I would love to do a remake of any of his films.

AZ: It was a gamble when I joined show biz since I come from a conservative family. I lost friends who didn’t understand why I became a sexy actress.

R: Through our film, I want to dispel the notion that VM is all about sex because our story has substance.
