Resident Evil’s Lady Dimitrescu Stands Proud in Fan Art by Marvel Artist Mark Brooks

Marvel comic book artist Mark Brooks shares fan art of Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village that he sketched as a warmup for his regular work.

Longtime Marvel comic book artist Mark Brooks showcased some impressive fan art of Resident Evil Village villainess and viral internet heartthrob Lady Dimitrescu.

Brooks, famed for his artwork on iconic comic book properties ranging from Marvel to DC to Star Wars, shared some recent fan art via Twitter. The sketches, which Brooks called “last week’s warm up,” feature Lady Alcina Dimitrescu from this year’s hit survival horror title Resident Evil Village. Dimitrescu stands tall in the images alongside two of her daughters, Daniela and Bela, amid the family’s lavish castle estate that lords over the game’s eponymous village. Brooks said he completed the fan art as an exercise, tweeting that he “did a bit every morning to stretch [his] art muscles before regular work,” but the sketches are still packed with striking details and dynamic color.

The two pieces of art are mostly the same, save for a simple difference in perspective. The first image showcases the villainous trio alone, whereas the second sketch adds the hand and pistol of Ethan Winters, the game’s protagonist. Switching to Ethan’s point of view makes Lady Dimitrescu appear even taller and more imposing, especially as he bears only a handgun as he faces down the claw-wielding giantess.

Being a comics veteran, Brooks’ stunning art has been well observed. In Marvel comics, Brooks has most famously worked on Marvel Age, Cable & Deadpool, Ultimate X-Men, New X-Men, Avengers: The Initiative, Secret Empire and Dark Reign: Young Avengers. His acclaimed work on Spider-Man comics has spanned properties including The Amazing Spider-Man, Ultimate Spider-Man and Araña: The Heart of the Spider.

In the Star Wars galaxy, Brooks was nominated for Eisner Awards for his work on a 2016 Han Solo miniseries. He was also lauded for his run of covers on Detective Comics. Most recently, Brooks produced some remarkable cover artwork in a run celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Fantastic Four.

Resident Evil Village launched in May 2020 to massive success. The latest entry in Capcom’s survival horror franchise racked up critical acclaim and sold over 4.5 million copies by June. Around the time of the game’s release, Lady Dimitrescu garnered a staggering fan following across the Internet, mainly due to her unique vampire-inspired design coupled with a canonically confirmed 9’6” height. While most of the love for Lady D was all in good fun, leading to gorgeous works such as Brooks’ recent sketches, things got a little out of hand earlier this year when the Amazon listing for Resident Evil Village became buried under a mountain of NSFW Dimitrescu art.

Resident Evil Village is available to play on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Google Stadia, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
