Regional OTT platform plans to invest Rs 1000 crore over next three years

Arha Media & Broadcasting, a joint venture by Allu Aravind (Geetha Arts) and My Home Group, plans to invest Rs 1000 crore over the next three years to expand its over-the-top (OTT) platform aha.

Launched in February 2020, aha will expand into new languages and content genres. It has emerged as one of the leading regional language OTT platforms with a presence in Tamil and Telugu language markets.

Giving details about the investment, Allu Aravind shared in a statement, “Today three years since, we are successful in Telugu and we are growing fast in Tamil and I believe the time has come for us to grow further into more languages. I am happy to say that over the next three years, we have a solid plan of growth with expansion into new languages and genres; and to that end, we are committed to infusing Rs 1000 crores.”

aha CEO Ajit Thakur added, “We are committed to making aha a super app for our local audiences, and towards that, over the next three years we will offer gaming, news, K-dramas, short form, interactive content, and a host of other features on our platform. In addition, we have also started working on our plans to launch in Malayalam and Kannada.”

aha has 2000+ hours of content including 350+ hours of exclusive and original content. The OTT app has been downloaded by 32 million users. It has 12 million monthly active users.

The platform is present in the US, UK, and Australia as well as Southeast Asia, which includes Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Singapore.
