Queen facing days of Covid tests after meeting Charles before positive result

The Queen is being monitored closely and now faces days of Covid tests after Prince Charles tested positive for coronavirus just two days after coming into close contact with the Queen. Officials at Buckingham Palace have refused to say whether or not the Queen has tested positive but have said that she is being closely monitored and is not showing any symptoms.

The Prince of Wales, 73, is self isolating at home after testing positive this morning. It is the second time he has tested positive after testing positive in March 2020. Palace doctors will now test the Queen frequently after she saw her son at her Windsor Castle home on Tuesday, it is understood.

Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall, continued to attend royal engagements today on her own, saying she was feeling “very lucky” to have tested negative. The Queen has been triple-vaccinated so will not need to self isolate, unless she tests positive. She received her first jab in January 2021 and her second jab in March while sources say it is believed she got her booster jab in October.

She is said to be feeling “much better” after being advised to rest by doctors. She was forced to spend the night in hospital in October after receiving treatment for an unexplained condition. Throughout the pandemic, the Queen has largely been shielded by a ring of steel dubbed ‘HMS Bubble’, whereby 22 royal staff sacrificed their home lives to stay isolated at Windsor Castle so they could serve the Queen and her late husband Prince Philip during lockdown.
