PS5 UK restock: Smyths, AO, Scan PlayStation 5 stock drops before Argos

UPDATE: New PS5 stock drops have gone live today from AO and Scan, following an earlier restock from Smyths.

Argos is the next UK retailer expected to get a major shipment, with thousands of consoles expected to be release next week, around September 14.

ORIGINAL: Smyths has become the latest UK retailer to offer PS5 consoles this month, following an earlier restock from Studio on September 7.

According to the latest news supplied by tracker account PS5 Stock UK on Twitter, Smyths stores are currently restocking on next-gen consoles.

The message from the reliable retail source reads: “We are hearing from members over at our Discord, that some called Smyths Toys over the phone and everyone’s getting different answers, some staff are saying it’s in-store now and online later, some are saying it’s in-store only, so it’s worth a visit.

Adding: “As we’ve mentioned in our Exclusive News tweet, you can alternatively pre-order in-store.”

There’s a good chance that all PS5 stock has disappeared online, so the best course of action is to try phoning your local store.

And if you have missed out on yet another chance to buy a PlayStation 5 this week, more chances are expected soon.

According to PS5 Stock UK on Twitter Argos will be receiving a new shipment this week.

This could lead to PS5 stock going live on regional Argos sites on September 14, although this remains a report for now.

An earlier message from PS5 Stock UK on Twitter reads: “PlayStation 5 (Argos) Exclusive News: The internal systems now show the high-demand console to arrive in shipments mid-week around the 8th September, indicating a possible restock between 14th-17th September.”

GAME is another major retailer that is expected to offer a fresh shipment of PS5 consoles in September.

This is expected to happen within the next week or so, but delays are always possible.

Knowing when a PS5 restock is happening can be vital, but it’s also worth knowing how each retailer handles its shipments.

And here are a few examples of how best to try and buy a PlayStation 5 console from leading UK retailers:

ARGOS: The Argos website is notorious for crashing and being unable to complete purchases when site traffic is high. Stock trackers suggest using the mobile Argos app and keeping an eye on local store listings.

GAME: GAME is a UK retailer that offers the most regular stock updates for PS5 consoles. However, console hunters have been warned to use Guest Checkout, as this option is less likely to crash when completing a purchase. The next PS5 stock is expected around September 14.

AMAZON UK: Amazon UK runs better under strain but still comes with a few kinks worth mentioning. Having an account set up with your card details is a good start, and gamers should also try adding a console to their wishlist before checking out. More stock is expected in September but no solid dates have been confirmed.

Demand remains very high for PS5 consoles in 2021, with retailers unable to keep up with demand.

Next-gen stock usually sells out within hours of being released, leaving many still waiting to buy one.

So far, Sony has confirmed selling 10 million units globally, hitting the milestone on July 18.
