Princess Kate rewears blue Catherine Walker coat for Easter

Kate, Princess of Wales stepped out today for Easter Sunday, attending Easter Mattins at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle with Prince William and their three children. For the occasion, the Princess wore a cobalt blue coat dress, a matching hat and clutch bag, nude heels, and dark red nail varnish.

Kate’s dress is not new, in fact she wore it most recently for the 2022 2022 Commonwealth Day Service.

The dress is designed by Catherine Walker, a brand she wears regularly, althought it appears to be a customised version of the brands ‘Sapphire’ coat.

The collar and pockets match the description of the ‘Sapphire’ coat on the wesbite, and the colour is extremely similar.

The coat dress is long in length, ending mid-calf. It has four large round buttons down the front, and the collar is made of velvet in the same shade. It has large flap pockets which are diagonal across the waist.

In order to update the look, Kate made several styling changes from her Commonwealth Day outfit.

Most notably the hat she wore for Easter was entirely different – presumably new.

Instead of sapphire and diamond drop earrings and matching necklace, Kate chose to accessorise the coat dress today with large gold pearl and blue chunky earrings.

She also chose a pair of nude heels and cobalt blue suede clutch bag.

Royal fashion fans also spotted a shade of deep red nail polish on the Princess’ nails – a far cry from the nude, clear or most regularly natural nails she opts for.

Although the females of the Royal Family are allowed to wear nail polish, there used to be supposed rules around colours when Queen Elizabeth II was alive.

Etiquette expert William Hanson explained “skin coloured” nail polish is preferred, “so hot red and bright pink, for example, are not correct, especially for official occasions and particularly during mourning”.

“So it’s either translucent or dusky pink – so that would basically be the colour of your nails so it looks natural,” he told The Sun.
