Pranksters fill London park’s fountain with Fairy liquid

TikTok pranksters have drawn criticism after they emptied washing up liquid into a fountain in a London park turning it into what looked like a giant bubble bath. Park management said they are still dealing with the clean-up operation from this stunt which is complicated by the fountain’s drainage system.

The viral video posted by TikTok user NoLimitDz shows a group of youths at the Triton Fountain in Regent’s Park. They can be seen emptying seven bottles of Fairy liquid into the fountain which within 40 minutes resulted in nearly the entire fountain being covered in a soapy foam.

The Royal Parks, the charity which manages Regent’s Park as well as seven other open spaces in London, said the clean-up of this ‘prank’ is still ongoing. A spokesperson said: “The park team are still dealing with this clean-up operation – there are some complexities due to the drainage system and it’s being worked through with our facilities maintenance contractor.”

While the video has racked up over 400,000 views and 27,000 likes, the pranksters drew some criticism in the comments. One person pointed out: “Bruh some poor caretaker who prob works minimum wage is gonna have to clean that up.” Another added: “Poor people that have to clean that up, well done.”

Others expressed concern for any wildlife in the park. “Imagine that was the water supply birds relied on,” one person commented. Meanwhile another person had a laugh at their expense saying: “Waste of pocket money.”

The Triton Fountain, which sits within Queen Mary’s Gardens in Regent’s Park, is a bronze sculpture depicting a sea god blowing a conch shell with two mermaids at his feet. The sculpture was given in memory of painter Sigismund Goetze in 1950.
