Pramod Bhasin appointed chairman of Data Security Council of India

Genpact founder Pramod Bhasin has been appointed the new chairman of the Data Security Council of India (DSCI), effective April 1, 2023, the organisation announced Wednesday. Bhasin is currently also the chairman of Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER).

He succeeds Rajendra S Pawar, the chairman and cofounder of NIIT Group. Pawar had served as the chairman of DSCI for a period of three years prior to this transition.

Bhasin established Genpact in 1996 and led it until 2011, shaping the business process industry in India.

The newly appointed leadership along with DSCI CEO Vinayak Godse aims to make cybersecurity a cornerstone of the new era of digitisation, the organisation said in a statement.

“It is with great pleasure that I accept the position and great responsibility to join DSCI, an industry body to make cybersecurity the utmost priority in India,” said Bhasin. “As we continue to face ever-evolving threats and challenges in the realm of cybersecurity, it is more important than ever that we stay at the forefront of innovation and expertise,” he added.

“DSCI team welcomes Pramod Bhasin, a pioneer of the business process industry in India, to realise the possibilities thrown by cyber security and privacy in this technology-driven decade (Techade),” said Godse.
