PM Modi, Arvind Kejriwal make fake promises: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Channi’s home district

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal were alike in making promises never fulfilled, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has alleged. Participating in a roadshow, accompanied by Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi in Rupnagar on Tuesday, she said, “my sisters and brothers of Punjab, understand what is before you. You have awareness. Use it. Leaders of both BJP and Aam Aadmi Party play the same game. They are similar.”

Roopnagar is Channi’s home district and Chamkaur Sahib is one of the seats that he is contesting. Campaigning for Barinder Singh Dhillon, Vadra said: “Look at Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal. They both began with the RSS. One promised he would give you Rs 15 lakh, the other said he would give Rs 7 lakh. One is talking about the Gujarat model, the other of Delhi model. You have seen the Gujarat model. Nothing was done. People did not get jobs, their businesses did not improve, nobody got any help. Similarly, no new hospitals or schools were built under the Delhi model.” Gandhi urged the people to vote for leaders from the state and ‘teach a lesson to those trying to waylay’ them’.

“Make them understand that the government is not elected when people stand on a stage wearing a fake pagdi. Make them understand who the real Sikh is. Teach them the power of the headgear. Tell them that Punjab is for Punjabis, that Punjabis will run Punjab. Be in charge of your politics. I assure you, Aam Aadmi Party and Narendra Modi are not going to give you any new kind of politics,” she said.

She said her in-laws were from Punjab and she was proud, ‘Punjabi blood ran in the veins of her children’. She praised Channi for his achievements as chief minister in his short tenure, saying he had taken several important decisions in his 111 days.
