Ratomo, who has already had training sessions with the first team following his good showing with the in the DDC, was once again in fine form to help the Buccaneers beat Chiefs in a tightly contested affair.

The game ended 3-1 in favour of Pirates at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Sunday.

Pirates scored first through Ratomo’s penalty, before the young Amakhosi levelled the scores thanks to Donay Jansens’ spot-kick.

But Bucs were eager for three points with the championship title in their mind, as they went on to take the lead once again in the game courtesy of Mpumelelo Ndaba in the second half, before Mohau Nkota sealed the victory for the junior Buccaneers.

Pirates, who are being guided by Joseph Makhanya, are just two points away from top of the table side SuperSport United.

Makhanya’s team are in third place with 47 points after 23 games in the DDC, while the young Matsatsantsa are at the summit of the log with 49 points, and second placed Cape Town City have collected 48 points from the same number of matches.

Makhanya believes there is still much to do for his team to do in their remaining fixtures, but trusts that his players will be able to deliver.

“We are taking it one game at a time and we believe that we will be able to get the results that we want for the remainder of the league. We are happy with the win. The boys showed that they wanted to get a victory and they did just that,” said Makhanya.
