Noah Schnapp shared adorable pictures of himself at New York Pride, his first Pride event since coming out earlier this year on TikTok.

The 18-year-old actor beamed from ear to ear as he splashed around in ankle-high water in Washington Square Park, dressed in a ‘straight outta the closet’ T-shirt.

After speculation around the sexuality of his Stranger Things character Will Byers began to mount, Noah posted a coming out video on TikTok.

‘I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought,’ read the caption and fans quickly shared an outpouring of love for the young star.

Now, Noah has enjoyed his first Pride event, embracing the rainbow flag with white trousers, a rainbow T-shirt and a matching rainbow headband and sweatband set.

He shared photos of himself with friends and family as he splashed around in a pool – the sheer joy on his face was heartwarming.

The star’s mum also attended, with both sharing a cute picture of Noah kissing her on the cheek before they headed to the park and walked in the parade with glitter and flags everywhere.

While some decided to comment hateful messages on his Instagram, fans rallied around the young star and congratulated him on his first-ever Pride.

‘So happy for you Noah ❤️❤️,’ wrote one fan.

Comedian Ali Wong shared a heart emoji while another commenter said: ‘I’m happy for you ❤️ free ❤️.’

Fans have been hoping that Will’s sexuality will be addressed in the final season of Stranger Things as many saw their own journey mirrored in Noah’s portrayal.

‘It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friend?’ Schnapp told Variety of the relationship between Will and best friend Mike.

‘Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100% clear that he is gay and he does love Mike.’

Noah’s coming out was celebrated by his cast members, especially David Harbour who told E! News: ‘I’m always happy for people that are true to themselves and come out. That was terrific.’

Stranger Things fans will have to wait a little longer to see Will’s story concluded as the show was halted due to the writers’ strike.

The Duffer brothers wrote at the time: ‘‘Writing does not stop when filming begins. While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike.’

Filming was expected to start in June but the showrunners have not given an update since their support of the strikes.
