PBA: NLEX picks up free agent Robbie Herndon

MANILA, Philippines-NLEX signed free agent forward Robbie Herndon after his contract with San Miguel Beer expired last month.

The Road Warriors announced his addition on Wednesday, adding that Herndon will be available to play in their PBA On Tour game against the Meralco Bolts at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

It will be Herndon’s fourth team since being chosen in the first round of the 2017 Rookie Draft.

Herndon lasted just one season with the Beermen where he was a member of the team’s run to the 2022 Philippine Cup title.

Perhaps his best moment was in Game 3 of that championship duel against TNT when his outside shooting in overtime propelled San Miguel to victory and a 2-1 series lead.

He had played a few times for San Miguel in the exhibition tilt before his one-year contract, which he originally signed with Converge before being traded, lapsed in June.

Playing time was scarce with the Beermen as Herndon had to be content with having to be surrounded by a talent-laden roster.

But at NLEX, Herndon may get a chance to flourish under new coach Frankie Lim while sharing minutes with Kevin Alas, Don Trollano and Sean Anthony.

Herndon averaged 14.0 points on 42 percent shooting with 6.5 rebounds and 8.5 assists in two games for San Miguel in the On Tour.
