A RYANAIR passenger has revealed how she packed for a five-day holiday without paying for extra hand luggage.

The budget airline is known as one of the strictest when it comes to hand luggage rules.

However, travellers are still finding ways to avoid paying extra for their bags, either through efficient packing, or sneaky tactics.

One such holidaymaker, Lauren Caulfield (@laurencaulfield_) made use of the space in her backpack to avoid having to pay for more luggage.

In her bag she was able to pack all the clothes she needed for her five-day holiday and much more.

She shared a video on Tiktok, revealing how she was able to squeeze so much in.

She said: “I refuse to pay for baggage on Ryanair, so it’s all going in a personal bag.

“We’ve got some sandals, some sunglasses. Most importantly is the passport.

“A couple of evening cardigans, some little day bits just in case I don’t want to wear a dress, some pyjamas and five dresses.”

Lauren’s packing method involves rolling the clothes up as tightly as possible so they take up less space.

She then makes the most of handy compartments in her bag to pack extra shoes and electrical items.

She continued: “The best thing to do is roll up your clothes as much as possible. It saves space. And with a bag this size, that’s what you need to do.

“There’s a nice little slit down the bottom, which is where you can put your shoes. I put my sandals in there and my flip flops. I popped my shades in here without a case, but it’s probably fine. We’ll see.And also put the passport away. That went in the little slit just above.

“Ipad holder at the back. Very important for beach reading, so that’s quite safe there. And this is the finished product.

“It is 40 by 20 by 20, which is just under. So you will not catch me paying for baggage on a Ryanair flight ever again.”

Lauren’s bag is the Coowoz travel backpack, which other people have raved about elsewhere before.

The bag is available from £32.99 on Amazon and comes in three different sizes, depending on how big a laptop compartment you need.

It is made of waterproof polyester and has two main pockets, a laptop compartment and many other pockets for different purposes.

It also has a wet bag, made of high density water resistant material, to separate dry items and wet items, like towels or swimwear.

There’s even a separate shoe compartment so you can take a spare pair in your travel bag.

And to make it extra travel friendly, it comes with a USB port so users can charge mobile devices.

The backpack has an overall rating of 4.5/5 from almost 6,500 reviews on Amazon.

Of those reviewers, 90 per cent gave it either a four or five star rating.

One said: “I bought this bag for my week holiday to Antalya on a Jet2 flight and it fit with absolutely no issues at all, despite the bag being packed to the absolute maximum it could possibly hold!”
