Week 2 of the NFL preseason closes with the New York Jets hosting the Atlanta Falcons.
The pregame narrative: New York avoided an injury scare with QB Zach Wilson as it appears he’ll only miss weeks, not months. Joe Flacco has taken over as the top QB on the team and football fans will likely see a healthy dose of the elite one against Atlanta.

Falcons vs. Jets preseason picks
Best bet: Jets moneyline (+114)
After an elite week of joint practice, we’re betting on Flacco and the Jets to win.
The Falcons and Jets spent this past week practicing against one another. In typical New York fashion, one of the biggest talking points was how strong the Jets’ offence looked with Flacco at the helm.
The highlights were plentiful. A number of Jets offensive players spoke up to discuss how well the offence ran with the veteran passer under centre.
“There’s a lot of experience right there with Flacco,” rookie wide receiver Garrett Wilson said. “I feel like everything with him is, he takes some pace off, can put pace on the ball. He kind of does a good job of making the passes receiver friendly.
“They’re pretty easy to catch,” he added.

It certainly doesn’t seem like the drop-off from Wilson to Flacco will be that stark.
Marcus Mariota will likely play only a handful of snaps for Atlanta. He went 2-for-2 in Week 1 and added 23 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Desmond Ridder will likely play the majority of snaps for the Falcons and he struggled in his preseason debut. The rookie went 10-for-22 with a pair of touchdowns. He did add 59 rushing yards with a fumble in the run game.
We’ll take the plus-money odds with the Jets at home in Week 2.
Key stat: Atlanta owns a horrendous 2-16 record in their last 18 preseason games.
Quick pick
Over 38.5 points (-114): Both the Jets and Falcons topped this total in Week 1 of the preseason. New York combined for 45 points in their 24-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles while Atlanta totalled 50 points in their 27-23 victory over the Detroit Lions.
The two teams also feature very young offences which means the starters should see a solid amount of reps. We’ll back the over on Monday night.
Odds as of 2:08 p.m. on 08/20/2022.
