Best odds to win the Spanish Grand Prix

The favourite: Verstappen (-250)

Verstappen won the Monaco GP after claiming pole position on an electric qualifying lap, beating out Alonso by under one-tenth of a second.

He never relinquished that front spot and ended up winning the race by a mind-numbing 27.921 seconds. That was Verstappen’s fourth victory in six starts, finishing as the runner-up in the other two. It’s not hard to see why he’s the -250 favourite in Spain.

The Flying Dutchman won last year’s title by 146 points, winning 15 of 22 races. He’s already built a 39-point lead on Perez with a 51-point buffer between third-place Alonso.

Verstappen won this race last year but it was only thanks to some fortunate circumstances. He qualified second behind Charles Leclerc and the Ferrari driver had built a substantial lead during the race before being forced to retire on lap 27.

Verstappen also won this race in 2016.

Other F1 Spanish Grand Prix odds

Perez (+385): Perez finished 16th in last week’s race after crashing out during qualifying sessions and starting at the back of the grid. All in all, moving up to 16th wasn’t an awful result on a circuit that is notoriously hard to overtake on.

The 33-year-old has two victories this year to go along with two second-place finishes so expect a much better result in Spain.

He finished second to Verstappen at this event last season and fifth the two years before that.

Driver Odds to win Podium finish odds Top six odds
Oscar Piastri +100,000 +10,000 +2,000
Valtteri Bottas +200,000 +15,000 +2,000
Niko Hulkenberg +200,000 +15,000 +2,500
Kevin Magnussen +200,000 +15,000 +2,500
Alexander Albon +200,000 +15,000 +2,000
Yuki Tsunoda +200,000 +15,000 +2,000
Guanyu Zhou +250,000 +25,000 +2,800
Logan Sargent +300,000 +50,000 +6,000
Nyck De Vries +300,000 +50,000 +4,000

Alonso (+1,200): This race means more to Alonso than the rest of them and with Aston Martin’s car being in top shape it’s probably the Spaniard’s last chance to win on home soil.

He’s won here twice before (2006, 2013) and has podiumed in all but one race this season.

His runner-up finish at last week’s Monaco GP was particularly impressive, given his killer run in qualifying.

Lewis Hamilton (+2,800): Hamilton holds the joint record with Michael Schumacher for the most wins at this event (six) and won it on five consecutive occasions from 2017-2021.

The Mercedes car has unquestionably taken a step back from years past with Hamilton’s second-place finish in Australia being the only podium for the team this season.

Hamilton did set the fastest lap time in Monaco last week, though, and clearly has a special connection with this circuit. Expect him to be in the mix on Sunday.

Spanish GP team betting markets

Red Bull has already built a sizeable 129-point lead in the constructors’ championship through six races. Don’t expect that to shrink as the season progresses.

Either Verstappen or Perez have won every race this year and the pair hold the shortest odds to win the Spanish GP. As such, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Red Bull is a -835 favourite to take home the trophy.

Driver Winning driver Fastest pit stop
Red Bull -835 -125
Aston Martin +1,000 +4,000
Mercedes +1,200 +2,500
Ferrari +1,400 +125
Alpine +15,000 +1,800
McLaren +20,000 +1,400
Alpha Tauri +125,000 +5,000
Haas +125,000 +25,000
Alfa Romeo Racing +150,000 +10,000
Williams +175,000 +5,000

That said, Mercedes has lived within the top six this season — considering Hamilton’s history at this track, a +1,200 dart throw may not be the worst option.
