Pacer Mohd Siraj ruled out from upcoming ODI series against WI

India pacer Mohammed Siraj, has been ruled out from the scheduled ODI series against West Indies owing to a sore ankle, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Thursday.

“As a precautionary measure Siraj has been advised rest by the BCCI medical team,” they added.

However, the team has not called for a replacement player for the three match ODI series, set to commence on July 27, 2023 in Barbados.

Siraj, 29, flew back to India with cricketers Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, KS Bharath and Navdeep Saini, after sealing a win in the Test series, 1-0 against the Windies. The right arm fast bowler also took five-for in second test in Trinidad, thus leading the pace attack.

However, now that he is rested for the ODI series, pacers Jaydev Unadkat, Umran Malik, Mukesh Kumar will take charge of the India’s pace attack.

Beginning on Thursday, India will take on the Caribbean crew in Barbados for the first ODI followed by the second one. The third 50-over match will be played on August 01 in Trinidad.India will also be playing a five match T20I series commencing on August 3 in Trinidad.
