Old video of pro-Khalistan bike rally falsely linked to PM’s Punjab visit – Alt News

A video of a bike rally taken out by members of the Sikh community raising the flag of ‘Khalistan’ and chanting pro-Khalistan slogans is circulating on social media. It has been claimed that the incident took place during PM Modi’s Punjab visit on January 5.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy was stuck on a flyover in Ferozepur district, Punjab on January 5 due to protests. The home ministry termed the incident as a ‘lapse’ in the PM’s security. The video has been linked to this incident.

The video is also circulating on Facebook.

Video was shot before PM’s Punjab visit

We found several tweets from December 27, 2021 that carried the same video. This itself proves that the video was not shot during PM Modi’s visit to Punjab’s Ferozepur on January 5, 2022.

A Twitter user said that the clip was taken on December 26, 2021 during a bike march in remembrance of Chhote Sahibzade in Sirhind, Punjab. Chhotte Sahibzade are considered the sons of Guru Gobind Singh. It is believed that they attained martyrdom on December 26, 1704. This is known as Saka Sirhind and is celebrated every year on this date at Shaheedi Jor Mel/Sabha which is organised at Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab.

The same video was also uploaded on YouTube on December 27, 2021.

It was also uploaded on Facebook.
