Odisha Govt hikes remuneration of contractual medical college teachers – Times of India

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Wednesday enhanced the consolidated remuneration of the medical college teachers engaged in the government medical college and hospitals on contractual basis. It has hiked the salary from 60 percent to 100 percent.
According to the notification issued on Wednesday by the health and family welfare department, a professor engaged on contractual basis will now get Rs 2.3 lakh per month against the existing remuneration of Rs 1.25 lakh per month, a hike of 84 percent.
Similarly, an associate processor will get Rs 2 lakh per month against its existing remuneration of Rs 1 lakh, a hike of 100 percent. The assistant professor is now drawing a remuneration of Rs 75,000 per month, but the revised salary of teachers of this category will be Rs 1.2 lakh per month, an increase of 60 percent.
Besides, these medical college teachers will get a five percent hike per annum against the existing three percent hike.
In a separate notification, the department has enhanced the financial incentives of faculty members (both contractual and regular) of medical colleges to ensure adequate number of faculties in both new medical colleges and for medical colleges which are under process of opening during the next three years.
Incentives are provided to doctors working in three zones- Zone-A, Zone-B and Zone-C. Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts come under Zone-A. Keonjhar, Boudh, Balasore, Gajapati, Sonepur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Angul, Sundargarh and Mayurbhanj districts come under Zone-B, while Dhenkanal, Puri, Nayagarh, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Jagatsinghpur districts are included in Zone-C.
A professor will get incentive of Rs 1.5 lakh per month if he/she is posted in Zone-A districts, Rs 70,000 for Zone-B and Rs 50,000 incentive for Zone-C. An associate professor will get Rs 1.25 lakh for his posting in Zone-A districts, Rs 50,000 in Zone-B and Rs 35,000 in Zone-C districts. Similarly, an assistant professor will receive an incentive of Rs 75,000 per month for working in Zone-A districts, Rs 30,000 in Zone-B and Rs 20,000 in Zone-C districts.
