The Northern Territory has recorded another case of Covid-19 as authorities scramble to trace the original infection.
The Northern Territory Covid cluster has grown to three after another person tested positive.
Health authorities are scrambling to identify the source of the outbreak after the Katherine region was plunged into lockdown earlier this week.
The latest case, a 21-year-old woman, was identified as a close contact of the original case.
Chief Minister Michael Gunner said she had flown from Cairns to Queensland last week.
It’s not known whether she carried the virus into the Northern Territory.
She tested positive on Friday night and became symptomatic on Saturday.
“She became symptomatic today and contact tracing has commenced,” Mr Gunner said.
“There may be more exposure sites for Darwin. So it’s critical everyone in the top end pay very careful attention.”
Authorities are trying to get in contact with 20 close contacts of existing cases, having already tracked down another 80.
The new case comes as authorities try to piece together how an unvaccinated man in his 20s, who had not travelled outside the territory, contracted the virus.
Mr Gunner has pleaded for more Territorians to come forward and get vaccinated.
