Nothing CEO Carl Pei has recently responded to memes mocking the similarity between the Nothing Phone (1) and (2), promising that people will see the differences soon.
The company has set a date for the launch event of the Nothing Phone (2) in India and other markets, which is scheduled for July 11. Alongside this announcement, the company has disclosed the essential specifications of the upcoming phone. In a teaser video, the back panel design of the Nothing Phone (2) was unveiled, indicating that the device will undergo slight design modifications while potentially retaining the semi-transparent appearance reminiscent of the Nothing Phone (1).
After the announcement, Nothing’s CEO, Carl Pei, took to Twitter to address the influx of memes mocking the company for the apparent similarity in design between the Nothing Phone (1) and the upcoming Nothing Phone (2). Sharing one such meme, which humorously suggested the difficulty in distinguishing between the two devices, Pei responded by stating, “To all those sending me this: you just wait and see.”
A 10-second official video shared on Twitter provides insights into the upcoming Nothing phone, indicating that it may feature a similar semi-transparent back panel design as its predecessor. However, notable changes can be observed in the light setup, particularly in the LED strip and wireless charging coil.
Both components now consist of multiple parts, potentially offering users more choices for customizing various lighting effects, as hinted by Nothing’s CEO, Carl Pei. Pei further emphasized that the new device will provide increased customization options for the Glyph interface. While the video doesn’t disclose additional details, the teaser implies that the previously leaked design is likely accurate.
The upcoming Nothing Phone (2) will be powered by a top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, bringing flagship performance to the device. It will boast a 6.7-inch display and house a 4,700mAh battery. Although specific charging details have not been confirmed by the company, it is anticipated that the phone will support fast charging technology, similar to its predecessor, the Nothing Phone (1). The camera sensor specifications have yet to be disclosed by Nothing.
In addition, Nothing has announced that the new Phone (2) will be eligible for three years of Android OS upgrades and four years of security patches, ensuring long-term software support. The company is committed to delivering a faster user experience and introducing more features through the latest iteration of their proprietary operating system, Nothing OS.
It is expected that the phone will come pre-installed with Android 13 OS, as Nothing typically provides the latest operating system with their new devices.
