No Star Wars Games Will Be Revealed at EA Play Live

No Star Wars games will be announced or shown at next week’s EA Play Live event, but EA has hinted that we may see game reveals next year – perhaps at Diseny’s own Star Wars Celebration event.

Speaking on Twitter, the official EA Star Wars account said, “We won’t be showing any new Star Wars games at EA Play Live on July 22nd. But all of us look forward to celebrating next year when we share our vision for a Galaxy, Far, Far Away.”

Aside from the fact that the account seems to be referencing Star Wars game announcements next year, the use of the word “celebrating” feels as though it could be a hint towards Star Wars Celebration, which will take place on May 26-29, 2022. This is, of course, speculation – we’ve contacted Disney and EA for comment.

As for what Star Wars games we could see at a Celebration event, we’re waiting for our first look at Ubisoft Massive’s open world Star Wars project, we’re expecting a reveal for a Jedi: Fallen Order sequel one of these days, and we’ve heard lots of rumours about a Knights of the Old Republic remake at Aspyr. We’re also yet to see more than a tease for Zynga’s Star Wars: Hunters, but we previously heard that it was aiming to launch before the end of 2021.

As for what we might see during EA Play Live 2022, we know that Battlefield 2042 will make an appearance, and we can likely expect something from Madden and FIFA 22. We’ve also heard tell of a (possibly Dead Space-related) game announcement. Aside from Star Wars, but we definitely won’t be seeing Dragon Age 4, or a new Mass Effect.
