Neymar skips PSG title party to play poker at Monaco GP weeks after £880k loss
Neymar has been spotted playing poker in Monte Carlo on the same night that he missed Paris Saint-Germain’s title celebrations. The Brazilian star is known to enjoy playing the card game in his spare time and he was seen at a casino ahead of Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix enjoying a game of poker on Saturday night, having decided to miss PSG’s title decider against RC Strasbourg on the same night.
The 31-year-old, who has been strongly linked with a summer switch to Manchester United recently, was seen out on the town on Saturday night in Monte Carlo for the biggest event of the year at the glitzy casino, with the Monaco Grand Prix taking place on Sunday.
Several members of the F1 media were invited to play with the PSG footballer amongst other celebrities, but Neymar was the star attraction.
And while he played poker in the Principality, his team-mates were celebrating their latest Ligue 1 title success after a 1-1 draw with RC Strasbourg confirmed their status as champions.
Lionel Messi’s goal put PSG in front on the hour mark before Kevin Gameiro equalised for Strasbourg with 11 minutes to go. And despite Lens’ 3-0 win over Ajaccio, PSG only were required to avoid defeat to retain their crown.
As Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Gianluigi Donnarumma celebrated at the final whistle, Neymar was conspicuous by his absence as the injured star was nowhere to be found.
Even Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe were sat in the stands despite not playing, but Neymar clearly had better things to do than sit and watch his PSG team-mates win the title without him.
