New outdoor festival coming to Sydney

One region of Sydney is for the first time about to host a line up of major Australian artists, who will be performing at a brand-new music event.

Major Australian performers are set to take the stage in a brand-new major festival, bringing new talent and offering local jobs to southwest Sydney.

Outdoor music festival ValleyWays will be held at Onslow Park in Camden in Sydney’s Macarthur region in February 2022 – a first for any type of music event in the area.

The festival is set to entertain up to 5000 music fans from 12pm right through to 10pm and as been a major development by ARIA award-winning artists The Rubens, from Menangle, with TEG’s Live Subsidiary, MJR Presents.

After ten years of making music together, the band wanted a way to celebrate in their hometown and are excited to be putting on a show in their own backyard.

“We are so thrilled to be putting on a big outdoor festival in the town we all grew up in,” the band said.

“Our community has been big supporters of the band over the last 10 years, and this is our way of giving back; we hope to do this for many years to come.”

Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney, and Minister for Trade and Industry Stuart Ayres said the festival would look to deliver a brand-new cultural experience for the community in Camden.

He said it would also enhance the region’s tourism and create local jobs in an attempt to boost the economy post-Covid.

“ValleyWays is a boost to live music culture throughout Western Sydney and gives visitors another reason to add Camden to their calendar of places to visit this summer,” Mr Ayres said.

“Our investment in this event for 2022 and 2023 supports our Covid-19 Road to Recovery program by assisting with event operational costs so that organisers can offer the most affordable tickets.”

Mr Ayers said some of the country’s most popular artists, including Skegss, Middle Kids and Slowly Slowly, will be make their way to Camden for the event.

They will be joined by a line up of supporting artists including Stevan, Becca Hatch and Hollie Col.

“ValleyWays will bring some of our country’s most popular artists to western Sydney and give the industry the opportunity to get back out and do what it does best – entertaining audiences and supporting the next generation of Aussie talent,” he said.

Member for Camden Peter Sidgreaves said the event was “very exciting” for the region, as it would be a “magnet” for music lovers.

“There is so much to see and do in our region and I know our businesses will very much enjoy the economic injection this new festival will create,” Mr Sidgreaves said.
