New iPhone colour ‘coming this year’ – but would you actually buy it?
APPLE could be working on a new iPhone colour to tempt you this year.
The tech giant is expected to launch the iPhone 14 later this year – with a special surprise in tow.
We’re expecting four models: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
And a new colour is expected to be added for the iPhone Pro models: Purple.
That’s according to 9to5Mac and gadget expert Jon Prosser, who say a purple option will join silver, graphite and gold.
Purple is a less safe colour – it’s bold, and might be difficult to match a case with.
But if you’re looking to stand out and show off your new iPhone model, buying the special colour is a great way to do it.
That’s especially handy if the iPhone 14 ends up looking very similar to the iPhone 13.
This wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen a purple iPhone.
Apple released the iPhone 11 in a pale purple.
And a special deeper-purple version of the iPhone 12 was released after launch.
But we’ve never seen an iPhone “Pro” model using purple.
The premium iPhone range tends to be issued in safer colours, while the entry-level iPhone models get the more exciting paint jobs.
Apple looks set to announce all four new iPhone models in September, well in time for Christmas.
For 2022, we’d expect the event to take place on Tuesday, September 13 or Wednesday, September 14.
That would be followed by iPhone 14 pre-orders on Friday, September 16.
And we’d expect an actual iPhone 14 release date of Friday, September 23.
We’re expecting a big bump to processing with a new A16 chip.
And the camera will likely see some major upgrades too.
It’s rumoured that Apple will remove the notch at the top of the screen, replacing it with a “hole punch and pill” cut-out.
But we won’t know anything for sure until Apple makes an official announcement.
