Music legend and Queen of Rock and Roll Tina Turner has died
Music legend Tina Turner, whose powerful voice is famous around the world, has died at the age of 83 after a long illness, her publicist has confirmed.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the singer said: “Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock’n Roll’ has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.
“With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.”
Tina had suffered a number of health issues in recent years including cancer, a stroke and kidney failure.
A private funeral ceremony will be held for her close friends and family.

Other songs include 1973’s Nutbush City Limits and 1983’s Let’s Stay Together.
She performed much of her early music with her husband Ike as part of Ike & Tina Turner Revue, although she was later able to launch a successful solo career.
After leaving her abusive and controlling husband, she was able to further cement herself as a solo star with popular 1984 tune What’s Love Got to Do With It.
In her later years, tina covered Bonnie Tyler’s classic song The Best in 1989, putting her own soft rock twist on the hit.
She also provided her voice for 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye, which served as the opening music for Pierce Brosnan’s debut as 007.
Tina was considered one of the hardest working women in show business, selling out stadiums on tours around the world for over three decades during her solo career.
She also sold more than 180 million albums worldwide and won an incredible 12 Grammy Awards.
Tina found happiness after she divorced Ike, marrying German music executive Erwin Bac in 2013.
Erwin donated his kidney to Tina in 2017 after she was told she was suffering from kidney failure.
Tina also experienced further tragedy in the last years of her life after losing two of her children.
Her eldest son Craig, whom she had shared with her former bandmate Raymond Hill, died by suicide in 2018.
Her son Ronnie, whose father was Ike Turner, also died just last year, leaving Tina heartbroken.
She also had two adopted sons, Ike Jr and Michael, Ike’s children from a previous relationship.
