Mum praises 89p ‘pollen trapping’ hay fever wipes for helping son

Hay fever is an allergic reaction to pollen that affects around 20 percent of people in the UK. Causing uncomfortable symptoms such as coughing, sneezing and an itchy throat, it is more prevalent in the spring and summer. But with pollen counts currently high, one mum has found a cheap method to prevent flare ups.

Shoppers have praised an 89p packet of hay fever wipes that are designed to “remove and trap pollen” from the hands and face.

The Nuage-brand wipes are currently available in budget retailer Savers, and can be found online for just 89p.

Their online description reads: “These incredible hay fever relief wipes from Nuage help trap pollen and prevent it from reaching the eyes, working miracles to relieve and prevent hay fever symptoms.

“These are the best and most effective option for instant hay fever relief, as they work straight away to relieve symptoms, unlike traditional hay fever medication.”

Each pack contains 30 wipes, and the product is said to also work for those who suffer from dust and pet allergies.

One mum, who reviewed the wipes, claimed they helped give her son “his life back” after he experienced hay fever symptoms.

In a post on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook page, she explained: “Just a tip for anyone who suffers badly from hay fever.

“My son has tried everything going but these wipes gave him his life back!

However, not everyone was impressed with the wipes, as a different user leaving a one-star review and commenting: “Quite soothing but didn’t help with my hay fever.”

The NHS lists common symptoms of hay fever as:

  • Sneezing and coughing
  • A runny or blocked nose
  • Itchy, red or watery eyes
  • Itchy throat, mouth, nose and ears
  • Loss of smell
  • Pain around your temples and forehead
  • Headache
  • Earache
  • Feeling tired.

If you are prone to hay fever, the health service recommends avoiding cutting grass and walking on grass, and spending too much time outside when pollen counts are high.

It also advises to not:

  • Keep fresh flowers in the house
  • Smoke or be around people who are smoking
  • Dry clothes outside as they can catch pollen
  • Let pets into the house if possible as they can carry pollen indoors.
