After a power-packed game that ensured Gujarat Titans’ position in the playoffs, the team’s star cricketer Mohammed Shami playfully said that ‘he won’t get the food he likes in Gujarat’, but he is enjoying the Gujarati food in the state.
Gujarat Titans defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad to qualify for the playoffs in Indian Premier League (IPL)-2023 on Monday. The star performer of the match was Mohammed Shami. When match commentater and former India coach, Ravi Shastri, asked Shami about his ‘secret behind IPL 2023 success’ Shami playfully said, “Gujarat mein huu, mera khana nahi milega na, lekin Gujrati food enjoy kar raha huu.” (I am in Gujarat, won’t get the food I like, but I am enjoying Gujarati food). The team defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 34 runs in a tough match.

Shubham Gill was in form as he was seen smashing a scintillating ton but it felt like he needed to push it a little more to match Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s performance. Bhuvneshwar Kumar completed a five-wicket haul to keep control of the match.
Shubham Gill, along with Sai Sudarshan, made 147 runs for the second wicket, however, the team wasn’t able to beat the 220 target set by Gujarat Titans. However, the team gave the Titans a tough fight and scored 188/9, with Bhuvneshwar’s final over resulting in four wickets and just two runs.
For Sunrisers Hyderabad, it was a tough start as their top batsmen were rocked by Mohammed Shami. He injected three blows in the powerplay as SRH was reduced to 29/4 in 4.2 overs.
Later, Shami added one wicked to his tally by knocking down Henrich Klaasen for 64(44) in the 17th over. Mohammed Shami’s efforts led him to win the Purple Cap. Now, he has 23 caps from 13 matches under his name. Another star player Rashid Khan also has the exact number of scalps from 13 outings.
During a post-match conversation, Ravi Shastri, former India coach and a member of the IPL commentary panel, jokingly enquired about Mohammed Shami’s “secret behind his IPL 2023 success”, to which the pacer gave a hilarious response.
When Ravi Shastri asked about the food intake of Shami, he jokingly said, “Gujarat mein huu, mera khana nahi milega na.” (I’m in Gujarat, I won’t get the food I like). He also added that he is enjoying the local delicacies of Gujarat. “Lekin Gujrati food enjoy kar raha huu,” he said
After the defeat of Sun Risers Hyderabad, the team has become the second franchise to be eliminated from the playoffs.
