M&M’s pushback with SUVs can help lift market share and stock

XUV 700 is the second major SUV launch for M&M after Thar launched last October.

Synopsis

The cumulative monthly sales volume of the competitor models is 30,000-32,000. If M&M is able to garner 10 per cent of the addressable market, it may boost the volume of the automotive division by 3,000-3,200 per month.

ET Intelligence Group: Mahindra and Mahindra’s (M&M) stock has been range-bound for the past six months given the concerns over the loss of market share in the fast-growing sports utility vehicles (SUV) segment and slowing growth in the cash cow tractor division. The situation however is likely to improve amid the encouraging response of the recently launched Thar SUV and an aggressive pricing strategy for the newly launched XUV 700.
