Mikel Arteta praises Gabriel Jesus and teases Arsenal transfer plan after Bournemouth win
Mikel Arteta suggested that Gabriel Jesus could be a difference-maker for Arsenal this season after he shone again in a resounding win over Bournemouth on Saturday. The boss also teased his transfer plan for the remainder of the summer as supporters wait for the Gunners’ spending spree to restart.
It was another joyous day for Arsenal as their 3-0 win over Bournemouth made it three wins from three and sent them top of the Premier League table. The run comes in stark contrast to how they began last campaign when a trio of defeats left them rock bottom.
Martin Odegaard’s early double was followed by a William Saliba stunner at the Vitality Stadium and, although Jesus failed to get on the scoresheet, his flashes of quality and superb skill to set up the opener were noted by Arteta after the final whistle.
“Individual actions make a difference in football and Gabriel Jesus is doing them week in, week out,” he told Sky Sports. “He was involved in the goals and his contributions to the team have been outstanding. He’s still 25 so he can improve his level a lot. He is hungry enough and has huge desire to get better and better.”

“It’s still far [from perfect],” Arteta told Sky Sports. “I think we had some very strong periods and we were very efficient, but in the second half we conceded too many chances. I’m proud because it’s not easy to come here and win 3-0, but there are still things to improve.
“We talked about [making a fast start]. We expected it because we saw the game against Aston Villa and how they started the game. We were precise in decision making and the two goals gave us a lot of confidence.”
