Microsoft celebrates OneDrive’s 15 year anniversary with a redesign and new features. The Redmond giant first launched its cloud storage system – OneDrive – in 2007, and it gained several new features in the last 15 years. Now, Microsoft has introduced OneDrive Home, a new homepage.
The OneDrive has a newly revamped home page, OneDrive Home, making it easier to catch up on the work you left. So, now, instead of showing up on the My files page, you will land on the new OneDrive Home page, a dashboard-like page showing you the files.
These new features are coming to OneDrive
OneDrive Home will show a “For You” tab and a list of recently opened files. Moreover, the files can be filtered by their file type so that you can see Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF separately.
Microsoft is adding a new “Activity” column that will show users the recent changes, comments and edits for the shared documents. The Activity column will also be available in the current My Files view.
Furthermore, the navigation pane on the left now includes a “Quick access” tab, where users can pin the spaces they interact with most.
These changes, including the new OneDrive Home page, are not available right away. Microsoft says these changes will roll out to users in the coming months.
Microsoft has also been working on a “OneDrive photo story,” a ‘copy’ of Instagram Stories. The feature is currently available in the mobile app for users in Australia. The company says it will roll out to other regions in late 2022.
