Meta announced the cancellation of its smartwatch earlier this week. The smartwatch was expected to launch in 2023 before the company decided to pull the plug. The company hasn’t provided any reason behind the discontinuation of the watch’s development.
Meanwhile, the prototype of the alleged Meta watch has leaked online which reveals a couple of details about the watch, according to Bloomberg report.
According to the report, the Meta smartwatch was codenamed internally as Meta Milan. The Meta watch prototype features a removable body and has two buttons on the case. In addition, the watch features a dual camera setup of 5MP + 12MP. Something that no other premium category smartwatch offers.
The front 5MP sensor is placed as a punch-hole, while the 12MP camera sensor is placed at the back alongside other sensors.
It was also expected that the watch will support WhatsApp, Spotify One and Instagram Stories. Also, it was expected to offer both GPS and Cellular support in addition to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Meta watch was also supposed to bring health and fitness-related features like other watches on the market. In terms of features, the smartwatch was expected to deliver 18 hours of battery life on single charge.
