Meow Wolf’s massive Vortex fest is here, “Wild Hearts” hits Mission Ballroom and more things to do

Meow Wolf’s Vortex hits The Junk Yard

Friday-Sunday. Immersive-art company Meow Wolf in April announced its signature Vortex music festival would reboot in Denver after a two-year shutdown, having first run in 2018 and 2019 in Taos, N.M. The Colorado venue? A new outdoor space called The Junk Yard, operated by mega-promoter Live Nation — now Meow Wolf’s official concert partner.

The Friday, Aug. 5-Sunday, Aug. 7 event, billed as a phantasmagoria of visual and auditory delights, will feature performances by indie and electronic-dance music luminaries Toro y Moi, Duke Dumont, Pabllo Vittar, Channel Tres, 100 gecs, Bladee, Dixon, Sad Night Dynamite, Bob Moses and many more. Tickets for the all-ages, food-heavy gathering are $69.50 per day or $198.75 for three-day passes. Children under 5 are free.

Expect more surprises — like weird circus acts, scavenger hunts, comedy — when doors open at 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, and 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, and Sunday, Aug. 7. It’s located at 2323 Mulberry Place, where there’s little to no parking, so bike in or take advantage of RTD’s free bus and train fares this month. ticketmaster.com
