Meghan ‘ducked’ the Met Gala as she wouldn’t have been a ‘big player’

Meghan Markle avoided the Met Gala because she wouldn’t have been the “big player in the room”, a PR expert has said.

The expert claimed he would have recommended the Duchess to stay away from the event in his professional capacity.

Kieran Elsby, director of Media Global PR, said the public is “very tired of her and Harry”.

He suggested Meghan wouldn’t have wanted to compete for attention with a-listers at the event.

Mr. Elsby said: “I’m sure if she would have attended as she would not have made many headlines, with so much competition.

“It comes back to celebrities wanting ‘All Eyes On Me’ and she wouldn’t have been anywhere near the big player in the room. So best to duck, dive and avoid, until she can find an event all about her.”

He told the Mirror: “[She] maybe dodged the event to stop an ego-bashing?”

If Meghan had attended, she would have walked the red carpet with the likes of Hollywood heavyweight Kim Kardashian.

Also in attendance were Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Rihanna, and Anne Hathaway.

Mr. Elsby’s comments come amid claims Meghan and Harry’s popularity is falling in the United States.

American commentator Megyn Kelly commented on polling that found the couple’s popularity had fallen in the UK, and said: “Very clearly in the UK, the people cannot stand them, especially her.”

She described Meghan and Harry’s approval rating as “really dreadful” and said their popularity in the US was “holding” before they became their “publicity tour”.

Megyn said: “Like they were hanging in there in the United States, not the UK and what do they do? They went on their huge media tour and they did their Netflix thing and they did Spare.
