On Sunday’s Aftersun, the host unpacked the latest drama from the villa after the infamous Movie Night unveiled some uncomfortable truths.
At one point, Scott van der Sluis was forced to watch as his former flame Catherine Agbaje cracked on with Elom Ahlijah-Wilson, kissing him passionately and being supported by the other girls in her new relationship.
Despite Scott’s savage dig at Leah Taylor during the night – when he claimed that she hadn’t said anything in ‘four weeks’ of being on the programme – it appears that many Love Island fans are in his corner when it comes to his past romance with Catherine, after he stuck up for her in front of their fellow castmates.
While speaking on the sister show to the main programme, Maya, 28, told viewers that while some moments of Movie Night were ‘sweet’, others were notably ‘salty’.
Addressing one of the situationships at the centre of the drama, the presenter said: ‘Catherine, who coupled up with Elom, did we expect…’
But before she could finish her sentence, members of the audience in the studio began booing.
Straight away, the host exclaimed: ‘Oh no!’, while Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson could be seen cringing in horror at the reaction on the sofa, as former Love Island finalist Faye Winter placed a hand on her heart.
‘Hey hey hey, I’m anti-booing anyone,’ Maya scolded the fans of the show.
Emphasising that what viewers see in the competition is just a snippet of what the islanders get up to throughout their entire day, she added: ‘We don’t see everything, ok – let’s be nice.’
One person on Twitter applauded how Maya handled the situation, writing: ‘They were booing Catherine but Maya Jama asked them to stop because we don’t see everything,’ alongside a row of clapping emojis.
Another admirer tweeted: ‘I never really watched aftersun but Maya Jama whewww she’s just too good at this.’
Movie Night was full of surprises, with Leah having to watch how intimate Montel McKenzie was with Tink Reading during Casa Amor, and Jess Harding being reduced to tears over what Sammy Root said about her behind her back.
Meanwhile, Ella Thomas insisted that she never kissed Ouzy See in Casa Amor, despite the pair looking close in bed, while Tyrique Hyde’s antics influencing the other boys to kiss new girls while away from their partners were revealed for all to see.
Love Island returns tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
