Masters of the Universe: Revelation’s Mark Hamill Reveals How He Found Skeletor’s Voice – Comic-Con 2021

During Netflix and Mattel’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation panel at Comic-Con 2021, acclaimed voice actor Mark Hamill revealed how his interpretation of Skeletor’s voice was inspired by Tallulah Bankhead’s iconic laugh from Alfred Hitchcock’s 1944 film, Lifeboat.

Speaking to Masters of the Universe: Revelation showrunner Kevin Smith, Hamill explained his method:

“I wanted to find the highs and lows. Obviously, he’s Skeletor so I approached him in a very guttural way,” Hamill told Smith. “But when he exalts, when he feels, (gives a villainous chuckle) ‘Oh, it’s delightful.’ And I wasn’t consciously saying, ‘Oh, I’m going to do Tallulah Bankhead,’ but when I was trying out the voice I just made a mental note to remind me that when [Skeletor] gloats is make it Tallu. And you (Kevin Smith) would pick up on that. You would find lines and say (jokingly), ‘Go Tallu.'”
