Masango believes Chiefs will thrive under Zwane | The Citizen

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Mandla Masango believes Arthur Zwane is the right man for the head coach role at Amakhosi, and that Chiefs will soon be the best team in the DStv Premiership.

According to Masango, Zwane knows Chiefs best and all that he needs is time and patience from the fans in order to get his strategies working and the players to understand him well.

Zwane was appointed as permanent Chiefs head coach prior to the start of the season, following his successful stint with the team’s reserve side, and with experience as caretaker head coach of the senior team after first Gavin Hunt and later Stuart Baxter were sacked.

“I think appointing Zwane as a Chiefs coach was the best decision from the management, I don’t think there was any better person to lead the club than him. He knows Chiefs so well and I believe there is so much coming from him, he is going to deliver,” said Masango.

“Look, I know that the fans are hungry for trophies, the team hasn’t won major silverware in a long time and that is worrying the fans. But it is coming, he just needs time to make his magic work, he has done it with the reserve team and we all saw the results. Plus he also helped to unearth a lot of young talent that is the future of the club.”

FAITH

While Masango has so much faith in Zwane, he says the competition in the South African top tier is intense, especially with Mamelodi Sundowns, who have been dominating the league for some years now.

However, Masango is adamant that the Glamour Boys of Naturena have what it takes to compete with the Brazilians.

“Sundowns are doing well, it’s been years now since they started dominating, plus they also have the right players who are doing the job. But there is a lot of potential at Chiefs and things will start going right as time goes by.”
