Manchester United have not ruled out signing Marcel Sabitzer on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich this summer.

The Austrian joined the Red Devils in January in an emergency loan deal following injury to Christian Eriksen.

The 29-year-old impressed at Old Trafford, scoring three goals in 18 appearances but his loan deal expired on Friday as he returned to the Allianz Arena.

Sabitzer made it clear that he would like to move to the Theatre of Dreams on a permanent basis and Bayern Munich have set an affordable £17m asking price to sign the midfielder.

However, United are on the brink of signing Mason Mount from Chelsea for an initial £55m deal.

That will further congest the midfield area and United are not currently planning on signing Sabitzer.

However, Sabitzer will come into consideration if United get good offers for the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay.

Fulham are keen on signing the Brazilian, who is going into the final year of his deal at Old Trafford.

United want £20m for the former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder.

McTominay is valued at around £30m and he’s attracted interest from West Ham and Newcastle.

United could therefore raise around £50m through the sale of the duo and Sabitzer’s arrival would leave United with another £34m to spend.
