Manchester United title winner Luke Chadwick jokes about key squad role

Former Manchester United player Luke Chadwick jokingly explained his role in the great Old Trafford of the past.

The 41-year-old lined up alongside great Reds of yesteryear including Roy Keane, David Beckham and Peter Schmeichel under legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Chadwick has a Premier League winners medal from United’s triumph during the 2000-01 season in which he made 16 league appearances, of which six were starts.

Chadwick otherwise saw little of the pitch in United colours, making just nine further league outings either side of that title triumph having been shipped out on loan elsewhere. But he has no regrets.

He said on Twitter this week: “I was lucky enough to be part of a great Man Utd squad for a short period of time! Everyone always new (sic) their roles and responsibilities!

“To name a few; Keane-Leader, Scholes-Run the game, Becks-Pinpoint delivery, Cole-Goal scorer, Me-Never spill the teas on the team bus.”

Chadwick paid tribute to midfield stalwarts Keane and Paul Scholes as well as Beckham. Andy Cole got a special mention too after the Englishman won the Golden Boot in 1993-94 and five Premier League winners medals.
