Sheikh Jassim remains confident of buying Manchester United, despite currently scrapping with Sir Jim Ratcliffe for a takeover. Should the Qatari billionaire purchase the club, the Red Devils will have big resources to use in the summer transfer window. So Express Sport now takes a look at six signings Erik ten Hag could be given – and how the Dutchman’s 25-man squad may end up looking next season.
Goalkeepers: Costa, De Gea, Heaton
United are admirers of Diogo Costa and there’s been talk of the Red Devils swooping for the Portugal international in the wake of David De Gea’s latest blunder against West Ham on Sunday.
And though their current No 1 is poised to extend his contract, it’s feasible the Porto goalkeeper will be brought in as an upgrade.
De Gea won’t be going anywhere this summer but one player who might leave is Dean Henderson.
The United star has long made it clear he doesn’t want to play second fiddle to anybody at Old Trafford – and selling him could be a way of balancing the books.
Though Tom Heaton is approaching the twilight years of his career, his presence in the dressing room is valued by Ten Hag and he may consequently end up staying put.
Man Utd transfers: Ten Hag wants another Pogba and it makes sense
Defenders: Frimpong, Dalot, Torres, Varane, Lindelof, Martinez, Shaw, Malacia
United want a new right-back this summer, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka potentially primed to be put up for sale.
And Jeremie Frimpong has been strongly linked, meaning it’s not a stretch the former Celtic star will end up returning to Britain this summer.
United are likely to move on club captain Harry Maguire, who has endured a difficult season so far.
And it’s possible they’ll reignite interest in Pau Torres, with the Spain international being linked with a move away from Villarreal as the summer transfer window nears.
Diogo Dalot, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia should then make up the rest of the club’s defensive options for next term.
Midfield: Camavinga, Eriksen, Casemiro, Fred, Fernandes, Sabitzer, Van de Beek
It recently emerged that Sheikh Jassim had three dream transfer targets for United.
And Eduardo Camavinga was one of them, with the France international shining for Real Madrid ever since his move from Rennes two years ago.
While Real would likely play hardball over the midfielder, Sheikh Jassim will have the resources required in order to lessen their resolve.
With Jude Bellingham due to move to the Bernabeu, it’s possible the La Liga giants will agree to a deal.
Christian Eriksen, Fred, Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek should still be at the club next season. Likewise Marcel Sabitzer, who has impressed since his loan move back in January.

Forwards: Rashford, Antony, Coman, Mbappe, Garnacho, Martial, Amad
The other two signings Sheikh Jassim apparently dreams of making are Kingsley Coman and Kylian Mbappe.
Obviously, signing either player won’t be easy. Especially when you consider their importance to Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.
But United would have the funds to put pressure on their European rivals and, if Sheikh Jassim’s takeover bid wins out, a Galactico era could soon be upon the club.
Coman could replace Jadon Sancho, amid suggestions Ten Hag is starting to grow frustrated with the youngster, while Mbappe would be a major, major upgrade on Wout Weghorst.
Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Anthony Martial and Amad would make up the rest of United’s attacking options.
What’s the latest with a takeover?
Sheikh Jassim remains confident of buying United.
There have, however, been claims suggesting Ratcliffe is in pole position to purchase the Red Devils instead.
On Tuesday, it emerged that both candidates were interested in buying United regardless of whether they qualify for the Champions League or not.
The Red Devils currently sit a point ahead of Liverpool, having played one game more.
They’re due to face off against the likes of Wolves, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Fulham and Arsenal between now and the end of the season.
