Man Utd youngster frustrated with Erik ten Hag and ‘evaluating’ his future

Manchester United youngster Anthony Elanga is frustrated with Erik ten Hag and is evaluating his future amid interest from a number of Premier League clubs.

The 20-year-old made an exciting breakthrough under Ralf Rangnick last season but has found starting opportunities, particularly in the Premier League, hard to come by.

Elanga signed a new long-term contract 12 months ago but his future is looking far from certain, despite Ten Hag’s paucity of attacking options.

With Cristiano Ronaldo now out of the picture and Jadon Sancho not yet ready to return to the fold and opportunity has presented itself for Elanga to re-establish his credentials.

However, with Ten Hag likely to recruit at least one new forward in January, Elanga is mulling over the possibility of a loan move, according the Daily Mail.

United have made PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo their No.1 target and are exploring the possibility of a loan move for Joao Felix who has been deemed surplus to requirements by Atletico Madrid.

United are yet to make a decision on Elanga’s immediate future but Everton are understood be showing significant interest.

The Toffees raided United this time last year when they looked to kickstart Donny van de Beek’s Premier League career but the Holland international endured a miserable spell at Goodison Park.

Despite masterminding last season’s successful survival campaign, Lampard’s side are again in deep relegation trouble 12 months on with their Boxing Day defeat against fellow strugglers Wolves piling on the pressure.

‘I thought we played a pretty good game, that we were the better team. We had relatively good control of possession and chances but if you’re not clinical, these things can happen in football & we got hit in the end,’ said Lampard after the concession of a last minute goal.

‘It’s a poor goal and we had control on the halfway line. You could feel the stadium getting edgy, and that’s not easy for the players. But it’s a disappointing goal.

‘I played for nearly 20 years so I know how it can affect a player… But for 90% of the game, I liked our decision making… the last phase of the game, before they scored, I think we should’ve been positive.’
