Man Utd wonderkid ‘in talks to join Barcelona’ with Erik ten Hag braced for blow

Manchester United youngster Marc Jurado is in talks to return to Barcelona, according to reports. The 19-year-old moved to Old Trafford back in 2020. Yet he may now depart having failed to make a single appearance for the first-team since his arrival.

Manchester United signed Jurado in May 2020 after the youngster turned down the offer of a new contract with Barcelona.

He then proceeded to sign a first professional contract with the Red Devils 11 months later.

But Que T’hi Jugues now say Jurado is in talks to return to Barcelona, with the Catalan giants ‘working on the option’ as things stand.

The Spaniard is ‘negotiating a return’ to Barcelona, with the operation set to be one struck ‘with a reduced cost based on objectives’.

Jurado was named on the United bench earlier in the year following injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

Yet he’s still not made a single competitive appearance for the club and has spent the majority of his time playing for the Red Devils’ youth sides.

While that’s the case, United have long had high hopes for Jurado – believing he’s a player with great potential.

And losing him would be a blow as Ten Hag plans for a brighter future at the club.

Jurado isn’t the only player on United’s books who may leave this summer, with many facing uncertain futures.

Big things were expected from Harry Maguire following his move to Old Trafford from Leicester back in the summer transfer window of 2019 – especially when he was made captain mere months later.

However, having fallen down Ten Hag’s pecking order over the past year, he’s now been deemed surplus to requirements.

United have already decided there’s no future at the club for Alex Telles and Eric Bailly, who spent last season on loan at Sevilla and Marseille respectively.

Likewise with Brandon Williams, who angered the Red Devils with some social media posts following Manchester City’s recent treble triumph.

Midfield trio Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek have all been linked with moves away.

United are in talks with Everton over a deal to take Anthony Elanga to Goodison Park.

And it’s possible Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial will be allowed to depart if United receive suitable offers for the pair.

Regarding incomings, United are working on deals for Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.

Onana is expected to join in the coming hours, with the Inter Milan star bidding farewell to his team-mates on Thursday night.

And United are hopeful of signing Hojlund, despite Atalanta turning down swap deals for the Denmark international.

The Red Devils have also already signed Mason Mount from Chelsea.

And Ten Hag reacted to Mount’s debut against Leeds on Wednesday by saying: “Mount? Yes, he was great.

“We all expected this from him. This was just his first game but he is going to contribute to our performance so much.

“We have seen some good things and good stuff.

“We have already trained like this over the last year and you can see that foundation in our play.

“The young lads fit our play. We show them our rules and principles – they showed us that today.

“They come in and it is a big moment when you come up into the first-team squad.

“You deserve game time – you work so hard for so many years then you get that opportunity, here. Two of those players have scored to win the game.”
