Man Utd ‘will give incoming manager Erik ten Hag £200million transfer war chest’

PROSPECTIVE Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will reportedly be handed a £200MILLION transfer war chest this summer.

The Dutchman is expected to take over from interim boss Ralf Rangnick at the end of this season.

Rangnick will then move into an advisory role, and after United’s 4-0 loss at the hands of rivals Liverpool this week, he has admitted the squad will need a massive overhaul.

And according to the Mirror, Rangnick’s assessment may be right as Ten Hag will reportedly be handed a £200m transfer war chest to rebuild the squad.

A large number of players will have to be brought in with Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata and Lee Grant all leaving for FREE when their contracts end.

But a further SIX players could be sold this summer.

The likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Alex Telles, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford could all be on their way out.

Donny van de Beek may be spared having worked with Ten Hag before.

England internationals Harry Kane and Declan Rice are on United’s transfer shortlist.

But signing both would all but swallow the whole transfer budget, excluding player sales.

RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku is also a target after his sensational season.

The France international has 30 goals and 19 assists to his name this term, primarily playing as an attacking midfielder.

The likes of Benfica striker Darwin Nunes and Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves are also being looked at.

United legend Gary Neville has admitted the squad is ” finished and broken” this season.

And a summer rebuild could help give United the vital lift to get back on track.

Neville said: “I don’t know how to explain how it’s gone from being slightly promising, finishing second last season, to the point of an all time low in my 42 years of watching United.

“I’ve never seen it as bad as that. I’ve never seen a United team wilt in a football game in my 40 years of watching them.

“The players are broken. There are some decent players out there, they have talent and have played at good levels, but they’re finished and broken this season. It’s a mess.”
