Man Utd want to book three more medicals with Casemiro set for Old Trafford transfer

Manchester United are understood to be on the verge of signing Casemiro from Real Madrid, with the Brazil international primed to move to Old Trafford in a huge £60million deal. A medical for the player is reportedly pencilled in, with the Red Devils hopeful he’ll be able to play against Liverpool on Monday. And the club want three other stars to go through the same routine before the transfer window slams shut on September 1.

Manchester United have spent the majority of the summer pursuing a deal for Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, with Erik ten Hag hopeful of securing a reunion with his former Ajax pupil.

However, with the Netherlands international reluctant to move to Old Trafford, it now seems Casemiro will be arriving instead.

United sent a group out to Spain to negotiate with Real Madrid earlier in the week, with a £60m agreement now struck between the two giants of the game.

Casemiro is primed to now travel to Manchester for a medical, with the 30-year-old excited by the prospect of a new challenge in the Premier League – even if it means giving up Champions League football for a year.

And he’s not the last player United want to see undergoing checks before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

With the club also hoping to land a new back-up goalkeeper, right-back and forward, the Red Devils want Casemiro’s medical to be just the start.

At right-back, the Red Devils are open to cutting Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams loose as they hunt an upgrade.

Wan-Bissaka could join Crystal Palace, while Williams’ exit may just be a loan with permanent suitors in short supply at the current moment in time.

Thomas Meunier is one potential option, having long played at the highest level. Borussia Dortmund are believed to be open to a sale, too.

And United have been tipped to land Barcelona star Sergino Dest, with the USA international previously playing under Ten Hag at Ajax.

United want to book a medical for a new forward by the time the transfer window slams shut at the beginning of next month, too.

It emerged on Thursday that they’d seen a huge bid for Antony turned down, with Ajax determined to avoid losing yet another big player this summer.

And they may now pursue Cody Gakpo as a result, despite the fact PSV Eindhoven would loathe to lose their prized asset.

United have also been linked with a shock move for Jamie Vardy, but it’s believed the England international would prefer to stay at Leicester instead amid talks over a new contract.

For now, the club’s focus is on getting Casemiro’s medical done as quickly as possible.

And he’s set to become their fourth summer signing after Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen.

Meanwhile, speaking recently, former Liverpool and Stoke star Charlie Adam criticised United’s board for failing to back Ten Hag enough.

“Ten Hag only has two weeks to sort it all out because there’s only one person that’ll lose their job and it’s not the players,” he told Betfred.

“He’s got a big decision to make, whether he wants to get rid of Ronaldo then the club has to give him a solution to do that.

“I don’t believe Ronaldo is the only issue though, there’s more to it than that.

“Ten Hag hasn’t been backed in the way that Manchester United should back their manager.

“They should have been spending £200-£300 million this window, having a clear out and getting themselves ready to compete. They’ve not done that.”
